In the speech, Obama took time to thank those who had supported him along his 8 year tenure as POTUS.

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible…who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.” – Barack Obama, 2017

The outgoing President thanked his wife and daughters for the sacrifices which they had made. Additionally, Barack Obama’s speech addressed the tumultuous and uncertain times which lie ahead for the country.

“You have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion. You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily,” he said. “Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.”

The speech brought tears to the eyes of the President, an uncommon sight. Obama leaves the White House at the end of 8 years which were unmarred by scandal.

It will be exciting to see what his next moves are. Without question, Barack Obama will be remembered as one of the most influential figures of the 21st century.
