Ellen DeGeneres just changed the lives of an entire class of students

Ellen DeGeneres is no stranger to good deeds.

Host of an eponymous show, as well as high-profile events such as the Academy Awards, DeGeneres (usually known as Ellen) has carved out a place amongst US celebrity royalty.

Ellen’s charity work earned her the People’s Choice Awards’ Favorite Humanitarian award in 2016 and it has been estimated that she has given away over $50 million on her show.

DeGeneres is a direct supporter of approximately 50 established charities and even more organizations aside from that. There is a breakdown of her charitable endeavors on the Ellen’s Organizations website.

A recent report stated that she has raised “$12.5 million for breast cancer, more than $10 million for families affected by Hurricane Katrina, and more than $21 million to individuals and families who shared their stories with her. DeGeneres has even inspired her audience to donate more than $35 million of their own.”

The other day, Ellen DeGeneres made one of her most generous gestures to date. Whilst appearing on her show, a group of students were told that they were being gifted a full, four year college scholarship.

As posted on The Ellen Show YouTube channel; “The students at Brooklyn’s Summit Academy Charter School are overcoming obstacles of all kinds to meet their inspiring goals. Ellen helped make their dreams come true by doing something she’s never done before!

The footage of their reaction is nothing short of delightful.
