German schoolchildren cover Kraftwerk’s The Robots and it’s absolutely glorious

Earlier today we reported on how Florian Schneider, co-founder of the electro pioneers Kraftwerk, has released a new track to raise awareness of the damage being done to oceans around the world.

On a related note, a recent video of a group of German schoolchildren performing a cover version of Kraftwerk’s 1977 hit The Robots / Roboter is just too adorable not to share with you.

Schneider and his group stunned the world when they used elaborate robotic mannequins to perform the track on their tour for Man Machine, but there’s an unmistakable charm to the home-made costumes which the children are wearing here.

The video shows the students of Kinder der 1. Klasse at GTS Lemmchen Mainz-Mombach school, who posted the clip during the summer. It was only in the last few weeks, however, that it has gone viral.
