Ninja Theory gives game profits to Mental Health today

Ninja Theory, the developer behind Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, will be giving all proceeds from today’s sales of the game to Rethink, a UK based mental health charity.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been very highly praised since its release two months ago. This is largely due to the way the game treats its title character. Senua is described by the developers as “a broken Celtic warrior embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. ” The character was developed with the aim of portraying psychosis realistically. Its symptoms are an important part of the gameplay and plot. It is a haunting and moving depiction of a human being going through true hardship, all the while set in a Viking era backdrop.

It is with the aim of further spreading awareness of mental health issues for World Mental Health Day, that Ninja Theory are donating the proceeds from today’s sales of the game to Rethink. Rethink’s aim is to provide support and education regarding mental health and to combat discrimination against those affected by mental illness.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has received wide acclaim, in part due to its portrayal of Senua and her psychosis. The game is available for digital purchase on Steam, GOG and Humble Bundle. Check it out today if you’d like to get a great game and help a worthy cause!
