Peta have called in some rock royalty for their latest clip.
Iggy Pop appears in both real and animated form as a critter saving superhero.
The segments highlight the suffering of animals from a variety of means. From rescuing foxes from traps to saving marine life from industrial fishing vessels, Iggy Pop has his work cut out.
The video is intended to make viewers aspire to “be the person your dog thinks you are.” The reveal shows that the animation is the dream sequence of Pop’s faithful pooch.
Nick Cave and Iggy Pop are both outspoken advocates of animal rights and Pop has collaborated with Peta on several occasions. Most recently he appeared in a campaign to raise awareness of seal clubbing in Canada. Cave’s song ‘Breathless’ (taken from his 2004 album The Lyre of Orpheus) soundtracks the short.
As Pop has said himself in the past: ‘All Animals Have a Lust for Life’
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said that ‘Nick Cave and Iggy Pop have left PETA breathless with this sweet video,’ before adding ‘If everyone acted like the people our dogs think we are and depend on us to be, the world would be a far kinder place.’
