Toronto FC make a very special one day signing

A Canadian soccer team made a grand and heartwarming gesture when they signed super fan Murphy Malone for an exclusive one-day contract this week.

Malone suffers from a heart illness; transportation of the greater arteries, and has undergone several surgeries to try and alleviate his condition. During his lengthy stays in hospital he simply wouldn’t part with his beloved Toronto FC team kit, and when word got back to the team, well, there was only one thing that they could do; sign him!

Malone had a taste of team training and held his own with the professionals, as the team’s Twitter feed shows. Taking part in training on Friday July 1st, Malone will also be on hand for the Seattle Sounders v Toronto FC game later today.

“We are pleased to add Murphy Malone to our roster,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Murphy’s experience, dedication and love for soccer and Toronto FC are truly inspiring and we believe he will make a great addition to our team.”
