Viridian Organic Wild Chaga & Raw Cacao Drink – Product Focus

There are a lot of things that I cherish and enjoy in the mornings, and my first morning cup of a hot beverage is one of them, and it should bring nourishment and enjoyment to my mind and body. Recently I found myself enjoying a hot cup of Viridian Organic Wild Chaga and Raw Cacao drink first thing in the morning right after a glass of water. Now it has become an important part of my morning ritual.

In medicinal fungi world, there is a lot to choose from, a while ago I wrote about the numerous benefits of including them in your diet. You can head over here and read about my Top 5 Favourite Medicinal Fungi and Their Healing Powers. Chaga is one of the most popular medicinal mushroom, and it is great for boosting immune system, it is rich in antioxidants, actually it is a ‘super-star of antioxidants’, these antioxidants help your body fight aging, cancerous cells and lower inflammation, that often can be caused by our busy and stressful lifestyles in this modern day and age.

Cacao is different from commonly used cocoa that is derived from cacao, and when we talk about cacao it usually means that we are talking about unrefined and unprocessed version of cacao bean. I can put a hand on my heart and honestly say that cacao is one of my absolute favourite ingredients in everything, starting from breakfast granola or porridge to chocolate chilli and a piece of dark chocolate an hour before sleep (helps to sleep better). It has also helped me to keep my iron levels in check, which is important for me, as I have been vegetarian for around 15 years and vegan for the past 2. Cacao is high in antioxidants and flavanols, highest plant-based source of iron, rich in magnesium (helps to relax muscles and improves sleep quality, great for a quicker muscle recovery after physical exercise), calcium, and it is a natural mood booster and anti-depressant (a natural source of four bliss chemicals – serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylethylamine).

Hence, when I stumbled upon Viridian Organic Wild Chaga & Raw Cacao drink, I was over the moon and was looking forward to incorporate it in my morning ritual. I love to start my mornings with a glass of water (room temperature), then continue with Wild Chaga & Cacao drink and only then I might follow with a cup of coffee at noon or green tea. Viridian harvests their ingredients from organically certified forests to ensure purity and sustainability. Their wild Chaga mushrooms are harvested in the Birch forests of Finnish Lapland and their raw cacao travels from the rainforests of Peru, to bring the nourishment and comfort to your cup. The 30 g packaging will last you for 30 cups, as you only need 1 g of this super drink per cup. I prefer to mix it in a cup of hot water and then add a bit of plant based milk. I love Oatly oat milk as it adds nicely to the earthy taste of the drink, I don’t sweeten it, as I love the gentle bitterness of the chaga, but if you prefer it sweeter, I would recommend maple syrup or agave syrup.
