This is the latest in a series of ongoing philanthropic gestures from the Cherokee Nation community.

It was reported on Monday that ‘The Cherokee Nation made a $25,000 donation to the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits on Monday.

The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits has offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Its mission is to equip and strengthen the Oklahoma nonprofit sector through training, consulting, advocacy, membership, networking and awards.

The Cherokee Nation has many nonprofit agencies in northeastern Oklahoma and around the state that serve our tribal citizens and all community citizens with such valuable resources,” Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. “We want to help them as best we can, so we’re thankful this donation can assist the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits with that effort.”

The donation comes from the tribe’s charitable contributions budget.

We’ve been working for several years with the Cherokee Nation on helping all the nonprofits in the area they contribute to financially,” said Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits President and CEO Marnie Taylor. “I call ourselves the insurance for the donors because we are able to support their financial efforts with our management, training and support of the nonprofits. We could not do our work without the financial support that the Cherokee Nation provides.”
