Darkness Into Light 2018 registration begins soon

Spring is here and with it a sense of replenishment and hope as we banish the long winter nights. Symbolically, it is the perfect time of year to address the issues of wellness and mental health, as Darkness Into Light 2018 intends to do once again.

Each year, crowds all over Ireland gather before dawn to embark on a 5 km walk into the sunrise. Fundraising takes place in aid of Pieta House, Ireland’s largest suicide and self-harm charity.

A statement on the Pieta House website outlined the success of last year’s event:

Over 150,000 people took part in Darkness Into Light at 150 venues across the globe before dawn on May the 6th 2017, crossing the finish line as the sun began to rise. It was an emotional day, and, as always, the highlight of our year. Darkness Into Light is our flagship fundraising event, and allows us to continue to provide free counselling sessions for people who are in suicidal crisis, people who are self-harming, and those who have been bereaved by suicide.”

*Mark Your Diary: Online Registration will open on March 22nd!!

“We are very excited about DIL 2018 and are working to get the event details out to you as soon as we get them.. so please be sure to watch this page and please help us spread the word.”

The Darkness Into Light 5km run/walk, in aid of Pieta House starts at 4:15 am, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at venues around the country.
