What you earn is not your self worth

You are not what you earn‘ states this enriching and uplifting video from The School of Life, and we couldn’t agree more.

Alan de Botton is a favourite of ours. His wisdom and knowledge resonate greatly with us and his regular stream of videos are a true delight.

de Botton has spoken at great length about the place of money within contemporary society, even making a TV show about it, and his quest to find out why acquisitions and status still fail to bring us true satisfaction remains a constant theme to his work.

In this recent video, ‘You are not what you earn‘, de Botton deconstructs the very concept of work, breaking it down to a simple issue of supply and demand. Additionally, he highlights the true meaning of the terms value and worth, showcasing how a healthy bank balance does not always equate happiness.

There are some fantastic points being made within this short clip and we thought that it would be a contemplative way to spend a few minutes this Sunday. Enjoy.
